When you step into a room, the obvious cleaning tasks might catch your eye, but what about the hidden areas that often go unnoticed? Here are seven places you might be forgetting to clean in your regular routine:
1. Undersides of Furniture
Take a moment to look beneath your furniture. Dust bunnies may be visible, but the actual bottom of the furniture can harbor surprising dirt. Use a vacuum or dusting wand biannually to eliminate spider webs, eggs, and accumulated grime.
2. Walls and Baseboards
Dust and grime don't just settle on horizontal surfaces. Illuminate your walls by opening curtains and turning on lights to reveal hidden furry walls, especially in rooms with textured wallpaper. Start at the top, working down with a particle-trapping duster, and finish by cleaning light switches and doorknobs.
3. Tops of Cabinets, Doors, and Picture Frames
Don't forget to look up! Clean the tops of door frames, kitchen cabinets, picture frames, and ceiling corners regularly. Check light fixtures and ceiling fans using an extendable-handle disposable duster or a microfiber cloth secured to a broom handle.
4. Air Filters and Vents

5. Closet Floors
Closet floors, especially carpeted ones, can accumulate dust and dirt. Seasonally remove items, clean the closet thoroughly, and donate unnecessary items. Prevent mold and insect infestations by maintaining cleanliness.

Ensure your cleaning tools are clean to avoid spreading dirt. Regularly wash and clean the debris cup of your vacuum, replacing filters as needed. Clean mop heads, scrubbing brushes, and sponges after each use for optimal performance.
7. Indoor Plants
Real or silk, indoor plants gather dust over time. Give live plants a shower or wipe their leaves with a microfiber cloth. Dust preserved or silk plants with a duster or use a hairdryer set on cool for a refreshing touch.
