Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria, joyfully declares the commencement of the admission process for its esteemed School of Health Information Management (SHIM) for the academic session 2024/2025.
Applications are cordially invited from suitably qualified candidates for enrollment into the National Diploma (ND), Pre-Higher National Diploma (Pre-HND), and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes.
ABUTH School of Health Information Management Admission Requirements
National Diploma
The ND program in Health Information Management provides candidates with the essential knowledge and skills for proficiently managing vital health information across diverse health administration levels. The program spans two academic sessions, comprising four semesters, inclusive of supervised clinical work experience.
Entry Requirements: Five Credits, including English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics or Chemistry, and any other subject in not more than 2 sittings.
Pre-Higher National Diploma
The Pre-HND Programme in Health Information Management serves as a preparatory phase for candidates holding Health Records Technician Certificates or HIT Certificates, facilitating their seamless transition into the HND Programme in Health Information Management. This one-year program lays the groundwork for a smooth progression into the HND program.
Entry Requirements:Five Credits, including English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics or Chemistry, and any other subject in not more than 2 sittings. Health Records Technician Certificate with a minimum of Lower Credit.
Higher National Diploma
The HND program in Health Information Management offers an advanced understanding of planning, collating, organizing, disseminating, monitoring, and managing health information across various administrative levels. This comprehensive two-year program comprises four semesters, incorporating supervised clinical work experience.
Entry Requirements: Five Credits, including English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics or Chemistry, and any other subject in not more than 1 sitting. National Diploma Certificates in Health Information Management with a minimum of Lower Credit. Evidence of compulsory Industrial Training (IT) or attachment in a reputable Health Institution.

How to Apply for ABUTH School of Health Information Management Admission
The application process is streamlined and can be conveniently completed online. The application form is priced at N6,200.
To apply:
- Visit the application portal at www.apply.abuth.gov.ng.
- Click on “Sign Up” to create your profile (Keep a record of your LogIn ID and Password for future reference).
- Choose “Check Forms on Sale” or “Apply Here”.
- Select your desired program by clicking “Apply” at its right end.
- Proceed to click “Apply” on the displayed transaction page, then click “Generate RRR” at the bottom left to obtain a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR).
- Make payment online via Remita using a Master/Visa/Internet Banking card, or print your Transaction-slip and pay at any commercial bank (Ensure the RRR Number appears on the slip before printing and going to the bank).
- Return to the portal, click on “LOGIN”, and enter your created Login ID and Password.
- Fill in all required details (Biodata, Contact, Next of Kin, Qualifications, and Passport Photo).
- Agree with the terms and conditions, then finally submit (You can always revisit to edit your application before the final closing date).
- After submission, print your form-slip and Transaction-Slip from your profile page. These documents are necessary for the entrance exams/interview. Please note that document uploads are not required.
