Job Purpose
The Finance Unit ensures the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions within KNCV Nigeria while supporting financial management, internal controls, and administrative workflows. The Account Officer will maintain up-to-date office records, assist in financial monitoring, and provide general support to the senior accountant at the Abuja central office. The role involves technical reporting to the Senior Account and Finance Officer and administrative reporting to the Senior Program Manager within the Akwa Ibom cluster.
Key Responsibilities

Verify and assign codes to all financial documents.

Record financial transactions in the accounting system.

Process payments through the banking system.

Monitor advance accounts and report outstanding balances.

Ensure timely payment, documentation, and filing of project expenses.

Assist with annual audits and related financial activities.

Maintain an inventory list of KNCV Nigeria assets.

Oversee procurement processes at the regional level.
-
Provide balance sheet specifications at the cluster level.
-
Maintain effective relationships with local banking institutions.
-
Ensure compliance with US Government (USG) financial regulations and KNCV policies.

Assist in financial reporting and internal audit processes.

Reconcile bank statements and maintain accurate financial records.

Track monthly expenses per the approved State Implementation Plan (SIP).

Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Skills
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

ICAN or ACCA certification is an added advantage.

At least 5 years of experience in finance management and accounting, preferably in project settings.
-
Experience in USG-supported project accounting and reporting.
-
Proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting systems.

Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

High level of accuracy, analytical thinking, and integrity.

Ability to handle confidential information and multitask under pressure.

Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset.
