Now, as we continue to expand our operations, we're seeking a talented individual to join our team in the role of Assistant Account Payable Manager at TGI Mart, located in Anthony, Lagos.
Objectives
As the Assistant Account Payable Manager, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of the Accounts Payable unit. Your responsibilities will extend to providing insightful reports to facilitate management decision-making on payment matters, processing payment documents accurately and promptly, and offering comprehensive accounting support.
Responsibilities
- Thoroughly review all invoices to ensure they have appropriate documentation and approval before processing payments.
- Enter and upload invoices into the system, posting transactions accurately to relevant journals, ledgers, and records.
- Monitor accounts diligently to ensure payments are made on time and maintain up-to-date records.
- Prepare and submit reports on VAT and WHT by accurately calculating requirements based on paid invoices.
- Generate monthly reports, contribute to month-end closing procedures, and assist with other projects as necessary.
- Track expenses and process various expense reports, including floats, travel expenses, and staff vendor advances.
- Reconcile accounts payable transactions, including vendor statements, and provide detailed account analysis.
- Maintain effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders regarding payment matters via phone and email correspondence.
- Ensure meticulous documentation and filing practices in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting standards.
- Provide necessary documentation for audits and undertake additional duties as required to support the department.
- Facilitate working capital forecasting for vendors and other creditors by providing accurate data.
- Process payments for freight and other third-party services in compliance with internal procedures, policies, and legal requirements, such as tax laws.
Qualifications and Key Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 4-8 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting procedures.
- Familiarity with NAVISON or similar accounting systems is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, multitask, and follow up on pending issues.
- Willingness to adapt to change and acquire new skills.
- Professional certification in accounting such as ACCA, ICAN, or equivalents is preferred.
- Proficiency in data entry and management, as well as the use of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
