About the Job

As the Chief Medical Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hospital and ensuring that the institution continues to uphold its renowned standards of excellence. This role requires strategic leadership to guide the hospital in fulfilling its mission of providing top-quality healthcare and medical education.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute the policies set by the Board of Management.
• Lead and manage the day-to-day hospital operations.
• Ensure compliance with the BUTH Charter and uphold the institution’s medical and ethical standards.
• Work closely with medical staff to maintain clinical excellence and high patient care standards.
• Foster relationships with stakeholders to enhance funding and hospital development.

Requirements for the Chief Medical Director Position

To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following qualifications:

1. Medical Qualification & Experience:

   • Must be a registered medical practitioner for at least 12 years.
   • Possess a postgraduate medical qualification obtained at least 5 years prior to the date of this advertisement.

2. Denominational Affiliation:

   • The applicant must be a member of the Baptist Denomination.

3. Professional and Managerial Skills:

   • Extensive managerial experience in a tertiary medical institution is required.
   • Must hold a valid practising license.
   • Must have a strong track record of professional and academic achievements respected both nationally and internationally.

4. Leadership & Vision:

   • Demonstrate visionary leadership that will improve hospital services, attract funding, and strengthen ties with local and international partners.

Tenure of Office

The successful candidate will serve an initial term of two years, starting from the date of appointment. Upon satisfactory performance, the tenure may be extended for one additional two-year term, but no further extensions will be granted.

Salary and Allowances

The remuneration package, including salary and allowances, will be in line with the structure approved by the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Bowen University, and the BUTH Management Board.

Qualified candidates should prepare 15 copies of their application documents. Each application should be enclosed in a sealed envelope, clearly marked “Post of Chief Medical Director” on the top left corner. The following documents must be included:

1. A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV).
2. Copies of relevant credentials.
3. A vision statement outlining the applicant's plans for the hospital over the next two years and beyond.
4. Names and contact information of three referees, with one being the applicant’s Church Pastor.
5. Proof of payment of a non-refundable Expression of Interest fee of N20,000, payable to the hospital’s Accounts Department.
