Job Description
The Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in enhancing our sales performance, increasing assets under management, and fostering strong client relationships to elevate our market presence. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, negotiating and closing deals, and maintaining a thorough understanding of financial markets and trends. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and execution of our distribution strategy.
Working collaboratively with our product development, investment, and marketing teams, the Business Development Manager will advocate for the client's voice internally, providing valuable market intelligence and feedback to refine our products and services. Additionally, this role will significantly influence the integration of technology into our business processes.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Sales Generation: Drive growth in assets under management through proactive sales strategies and client engagement.
- Client Prospecting: Identify and pursue potential new clients, transforming opportunities into business, preparing proposals, and delivering compelling presentations.
- Revenue Initiatives: Develop and champion initiatives that enhance revenues and profitability, aligning with the firm's risk appetite and financial goals.
- Product Strategy Participation: Actively engage in product strategy development alongside Product Management and Corporate Strategy teams.
- Team Collaboration: Foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team and across partners.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant regulatory guidelines and promptly resolve any audit, compliance, or control issues that arise.
- Asset Balance Maintenance: Manage the balance of assets under management across products to meet organizational objectives effectively.
- Client Wallet Share Expansion: Market a comprehensive array of products and services that align with client needs to increase wallet share.
- Distribution Strategy Enhancement: Expand and improve our distribution strategy in both existing and new markets.
- Market Research: Conduct thorough research to identify new markets and assess customer needs.
- Integrity and Diligence: Operate with the highest level of integrity, demonstrating due skill, care, and diligence in all dealings.
Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Science, or related technical fields. A postgraduate qualification in a banking-related discipline, finance, or management; an MBA would be advantageous.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 to 8 years in asset management or a similar environment, with a proven track record in distributing mutual funds, structured products, and other asset management offerings.
- Licensing: Registration with Nigeria’s Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) as a Sponsored Individual is desirable.
Technical Skills
- In-depth knowledge of asset management and broad market dynamics.
- Expertise in financial advisory and wealth management practices.
- Familiarity with fixed income solutions and credit instruments.
- Proficiency in equity and multi-asset solutions.
