We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Business Manager, Markets COO. In this role, you will play a crucial part in shaping the success of our Markets strategy, ensuring smooth operations, and driving business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Execution
- Implement and execute local Markets strategies, aligning them with the business initiatives for the Cote d'Ivoire and Western Africa cluster.
- Champion and deliver the global Markets agenda at the local level, ensuring consistency and alignment with overall business objectives.
Business Management
- Manage business budgeting and forecasting efforts, ensuring accuracy and alignment with broader organizational goals.
- Foster a culture of cost management and operational efficiency, driving prudent cost control measures.
- Collaborate with local support functions to resolve business challenges and act as a “connector” between global and local teams, promoting best practices.
Process Improvement and Efficiency
- Identify opportunities for process simplification and re-engineering to enhance operational efficiency.
- Stay updated on local regulations and assess the impact of regulatory changes on business processes and infrastructure.
Risk Management
- Assist the local Markets Head in running the Markets Non-Financial Business Risk Forums (NFRFs).
- Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks in the country, ensuring appropriate execution of controls and reporting.
- Escalate operational risks as needed, ensuring proper management at all levels.
Governance and Compliance
- Supervise and provide oversight of Treasury Markets and Capital Markets Products and Solutions (CMPS), particularly within the dealing room.
- Support in managing audits and compliance processes, ensuring adherence to internal and external processes.
- Ensure that dealing room staff comply with governance practices and procedures set by the Markets risk committees.
Regulatory and Business Conduct
- Uphold the highest standards of ethics, in line with the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
- Take responsibility for embedding these standards throughout the business, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and laws.
- Proactively identify, escalate, and resolve risk, conduct, and compliance matters, fostering a culture of responsibility and integrity.
Key Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage and collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including local Markets Heads, front office desk heads, operational risk teams, compliance, finance, and technology officers, to ensure seamless business operations.
Other Responsibilities
- Promote the Group’s brand and values within the Western Africa Markets COO team.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned under Group, Country, Business, or Functional policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Education: A University Degree in Finance, Banking, or a related field is preferable.
- Certifications: Accounting or Financial Risk Manager qualifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Languages: Proficiency in both English and French is preferred.
Role-Specific Technical Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of Markets and the financial industry.
- Strong Project Management skills, with experience in handling complex projects.
- Deep understanding of Governance and Control mechanisms, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational integrity.
