Background / Role Purpose
The British Council offers students and graduates a unique experiential learning opportunity through our internship programme. Interns will gain practical experience that complements their academic knowledge, enhancing employability skills and preparing them for successful careers.
Role Context
The Business Support Service (BSS) Unit at the British Council plays a vital role in delivering and supporting the organisation’s strategy and operations through effective planning and management of resources across Abuja, Lagos, Kano, and Port Harcourt.
As an intern, you will apply your knowledge and skills in a professional environment, gaining valuable experience in Facilities Management.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Facilities Manager (Kano and Abuja), your responsibilities will include:

Support for the Security Team:
- Assisting in implementing security measures and protocols.
- Collaborating to develop and refine security procedures.
- Monitoring and analyzing security event logs.

Administrative Team Support:
- Assisting with daily office operations.
- Helping manage events.
- Preparing and editing documents, reports, and presentations.

Facilities Team Support:
- Assisting with premises and logistics management.
Role Specific Knowledge and Experience
- Maximum of 3 years post-NYSC in any field of study.
- Interest in Facilities Management.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint.
Desirable Skills
- Communicating and influencing (Level 1)
- Planning and organizing (Level 1)
- Using technology (Level 1)
Language Requirements
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
