Job Summary
United Nigeria Airlines, a leading Nigerian commercial airline, seeks an experienced Chief Security Officer (CSO) to develop, implement, and manage our security strategy. The CSO will ensure the safety and security of passengers, employees, aircraft, and facilities, overseeing all aspects of security operations including threat assessment, crisis management, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Security Strategy and Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive security strategy aligned with the airline’s goals and regulatory requirements. Lead and manage the security team, integrate security into strategic planning, and provide direction and training.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to national and international aviation security regulations such as NCAA, ICAO, and IATA. Maintain security policies and act as the primary contact for regulatory bodies.

Threat Assessment and Risk Management: Conduct threat assessments, develop crisis management plans, and implement risk mitigation strategies including cybersecurity protocols.

Operational Security: Oversee security operations at all facilities, ensure aircraft and cargo security, and coordinate with airport authorities and law enforcement.

Cybersecurity: Collaborate with IT to implement cybersecurity measures, protecting digital assets and operational systems.

Budget Management: Develop and manage the security department’s budget to meet objectives efficiently.

Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with government agencies and industry associations, and represent the airline at security forums and conferences.

Training and Awareness: Create and deliver security training programs, foster a culture of security awareness, and ensure all employees understand their security roles.

Crisis Management: Lead responses to security incidents, coordinate with internal and external teams, and conduct post-incident analysis to improve security practices.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Aviation Management, or related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Proven experience in crisis management, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
- At least 10-15 years of experience in security management, preferably in the aviation sector.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Aviation Security Professional (AvSecP) are desirable.
