The Management Sciences for Health (MSH), a renowned global health nonprofit, is spearheading efforts to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through the Fleming Fund Project. We're seeking a passionate Clinical Microbiologist to join our team in Abuja, Nigeria.
About the Project:
The Fleming Fund addresses the global threat of drug-resistant infections by enhancing the capacity of nations to diagnose and manage AMR. Managed by Mott MacDonald, this initiative focuses on strengthening surveillance and generating critical data to inform policy and practice.
Phase II of the Fleming Fund will further support countries in combating AMR, emphasizing outcomes such as quality data production and sustainable investment.
About the Role:
As the Clinical Microbiologist, you will play a pivotal role in developing strategies to bolster lab capacities for AMR diagnostics and data reporting. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the implementation of AMR diagnostic strategies
- Mentoring lab personnel and strengthening their capacities
- Collaborating with Nigerian laboratories and OHSC to ensure effective surveillance
- Contributing to both human and animal health lab initiatives
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you'll need:
- A Postgraduate Degree in Microbiology or a related field; PhD or MD preferred
- At least 7 years of experience in public health in Nigeria
- Extensive knowledge of AMR surveillance and lab practices, particularly WHO standards
- Strong communication skills in English
