The Governing Council of the Federal College of Education, Obudu, Cross River State, invites applications from qualified candidates to fill the position of College Librarian.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the administration of the College Library and coordinate library services across the teaching units.
- Formulate and implement library policies, liaise with academic departments regarding book requirements.
- Prepare and manage the library's budget.
- Provide professional advice on library-related matters.
- Perform any other duties as directed by the Council or Provost.
Qualifications / Requirements
- A Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS) with at least 15 years of relevant experience and registration with a professional library body, OR a PhD in Library and Information Science with at least 12 years of experience.
- Proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
- Demonstrated professional competence, sound human relations, and effective management of resources.
- Must have held the position of Chief Librarian or Deputy College Librarian for at least five years in a College of Education.
- Evidence of significant contributions to scholarly publications and research.
- Age limit: Must not be above 59 years at the time of appointment.
Terms of Appointment / Conditions of Service
- As per the 2015 Revised Schemes and Conditions of Service for Federal Colleges of Education in Nigeria.
- Tenure: 5 years, non-renewable.
- Salary: Consolidated salary structure for Registrars and College Librarians.
