Key Priority Themes for Funding

Grant Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Location: Projects must be implemented in the country where the applicant is registered.
- Impact: The initiative should demonstrate national, sub-national, regional, or international significance.
- Engagement: Projects must encourage active participation of civil society in decision-making processes.
- Gender Considerations: Integration of gender considerations must be effectively outlined in the project proposal.
Applicant Requirements
Eligible applicants must:
- Be not-for-profit CSOs with a proven track record of advocacy and participatory governance, with a minimum of three years of operational experience.
- Be registered in Commonwealth Foundation member countries. Newly registered organizations (less than three years) are not eligible.
- Ensure that the grant amount requested does not exceed 70% of their average annual income over the past two years, which must not exceed £2.5 million.
Financial Documentation
- For grants of £15,000 per year, applicants can submit either their latest audited accounts or annual accounts, which must be signed by a responsible officer of the organization.
- For grants exceeding £15,000, only audited accounts, including both the accounts and the auditor’s opinion, are acceptable. All financial documents must be recent and dated no earlier than December 2022.
- Applicants in India must comply with the Foreign Contribution Registration Act (FCRA) to be eligible for charitable funding.
Application Process
Interested organizations can apply through the SurveyMonkey Apply portal. The application must include:
- A completed logic model outlining the project framework.
- A registration certificate of the applicant organization.
- Financial documents as required based on the requested grant amount.
