Job Title: Community Development Assistant
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Full Time
Department: Programmes - FSL (Food Security and Livelihoods)
Reporting to: Social Safety/Hygiene Officer
Proposed Start Date: January 2025
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and participate in community awareness campaigns, workshops, and meetings to promote program components.
- Assist in selecting vulnerable individuals for social protection, health, education, WASH, and agriculture projects.
- Support service and resource delivery, ensuring inclusivity, especially for marginalized groups.
- Facilitate community workshops to highlight project goals in social protection, health, WASH, and agriculture.
- Aid the Social Safety Net Senior Officer in needs assessments and beneficiary identification.
- Ensure open communication between the project team and community members, addressing concerns and feedback.
- Collect and compile field data, supporting report preparation for stakeholders.
- Conduct regular field visits, monitoring project progress and providing feedback.
- Organize training sessions for community volunteers and beneficiaries on various project aspects.
- Offer support to community volunteers in performing their roles effectively.
- Assist in capacity building for local government and community leaders.
- Maintain project documentation, including reports and beneficiary lists.
- Provide logistical support for field activities, including transport arrangements and materials preparation.
- Coordinate and facilitate training sessions and workshops for community and project staff.
- Monitor project activities to ensure alignment with objectives across all sectors.
- Collaborate with team members to meet project goals in social protection, health, WASH, and agriculture.
- Build relationships with community members and stakeholders for active project participation.
Position Requirements
- National Diploma/Degree in Education, Community Development, Social Work, Health, Environmental Science, Agriculture, Public Health, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in community mobilization or development, preferably in a humanitarian setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with basic administrative abilities.
- Proficiency in English and local languages (e.g., Kanuri, Hausa).
- Flexibility and endurance for challenging conditions such as long-distance travel.
- Proven experience in multi-sectoral project implementation, including social protection, education, and labor-intensive activities.
- Residence in the designated LGA with existing networks in the community.
- Prior experience with NGOs in mobilization across various sectors.
