World Health Organization (WHO) is the leading authority in global health under the United Nations system, steering health policies, research agendas, and standards worldwide.
In response to the circulating Variant Poliovirus Type 2 (cVPV2) outbreak in Nigeria, WHO is seeking a Community Engagement and Monitoring Assistant to be based in Katsina on a contractual basis.
Objectives:
- Monitor and evaluate community engagement activities with a gender perspective to combat the cVPV2 outbreak.
- Support and guide community mobilizers in effective engagement strategies.
- Collect and analyze gender-disaggregated data to inform decision-making.
- Strengthen community participation in polio eradication efforts through collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a community engagement plan with a monitoring framework.
- Implement communication strategies to promote polio vaccination.
- Conduct field visits to monitor activity quality and effectiveness.
- Organize feedback sessions to improve engagement strategies.
- Provide regular updates and reports on engagement progress.
- Collaborate with partners to identify innovative approaches.
- Contribute to behavior change communication strategies.
- Support training of community mobilizers and volunteers.
- Ensure coordination of engagement activities with other interventions.
- Collect and analyze gender-disaggregated data for reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in public health, communications, or related field.
- Knowledge of public health and vaccine-related issues.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- At least 3 years of experience in community outreach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations.
