The U.S. Mission to Nigeria, comprising the Embassy in Abuja, FCT, and the Consulate General in Lagos, plays a pivotal role in diplomatic relations. The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos acts as the Mission’s representative to the Nigerian people in the southern region.
We are seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of Community Liaison Office (CLO) Coordinator, located in Abuja. As a CLO Coordinator, you will play a vital role in executing morale-enhancing activities across eight key areas of responsibility, including family member employment, crisis management and security, education, communications and outreach, guidance and referral, welcoming and orientation, community liaison, and events planning.
Duties
Your duties will encompass identifying community needs and implementing effective programming, providing resources and referrals, and managing the Community Liaison Office at post. You'll develop action plans aligning with Department of State and ICASS service standards, and spearhead inclusive programs and events aimed at fostering community morale and engagement.
Building strong partnerships both within and outside the Mission will be essential. You'll serve as a liaison, facilitating programs to connect the post community with local resources, education, employment opportunities, and cultural experiences. Regular participation in various committees and meetings will be part of your role, ensuring community representation and effective communication channels.
Education-wise, completion of at least two years of college or university studies is required, along with a minimum of three years of professional experience in administration, office management, customer service, or program management. An understanding of the Foreign Service community, federal government structure, and program management principles is necessary, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Your ability to analyze issues, draft/edit materials, and manage projects efficiently will be crucial. Given the dynamic nature of the role, excellent interpersonal, communication, and briefing skills are a must, along with the capability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
