Job Description
As a Corporate Credit Analyst at RMB, you will conduct quantitative and qualitative assessments of corporate clients' financial strength to identify portfolio-related credit risks.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will undertake the following responsibilities:
- Assess financial transactions, including derivatives and structures used.
- Evaluate counterparty credit risk, considering the operating environment (country, industry, regulatory, and legal risk).
- Spread and model financial statements.
- Prepare and present credit reports and applications to relevant committees.
- Monitor financial covenants and risks for credit reporting.
- Engage in ongoing evaluation and management of counterparties and facilities.
- Liaise with various business units and clients.
- Analyze financial statements to identify and quantify business risks.
- Assign credit ratings using approved methodologies and models.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates must possess
- A tertiary education in finance with at least a Second-Class Upper division or equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years of credit analysis experience, preferably in a large financial institution or in financial markets consulting/auditing.
- Expertise in modeling, assessing, or advising on financial and business risks.
- A solid understanding of Treasury and Financial Markets products (e.g., derivatives).
Technical Skills and General Competencies
- Knowledge of practical economics, Nigerian macroeconomic environment, and relevant legislation (e.g., IFRS, Basle II and III).
- Understanding of taxation for companies and financial institutions.
- Familiarity with credit ratings, portfolio theory, and credit pricing.
Key Competencies
- Proficiency in assessing counterparty credit risk and identifying transaction-specific risks.
- Knowledge of the bank’s credit risk appetite, credit grading, and pricing models.
- Ability to stay updated on trends in the global lending market.
