Job Overview

The Nigeria Security Manager will act as the central point of contact for all security-related matters across our operations in Nigeria. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing risks and implementing security measures to safeguard both people and assets within the organization. This is a strategic role that requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure comprehensive security management, aligned with the operational and risk profile of the company.

Key Responsibilities

As the Country Security Manager, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Developing a Risk-Based Security Program: Conduct regular risk and threat assessments to develop and implement cost-effective mitigation strategies, ensuring the safety and security of operations.

  • Security Audits and Vendor Management: Oversee audits of vendors, contractors, customers, and facilities to identify security risks. Follow up on mitigation plans to ensure the continuity of secure operations.

  • Incident Management: Ensure all security incidents are reported promptly, investigated thoroughly, and resolved in a timely manner. Maintain a proactive approach to minimizing potential security breaches.

  • Tender Evaluation Expertise: Provide technical support for security requirements during the tender process, ensuring that all contractual obligations align with security standards.

  • Crisis Management & Training: Identify and address crisis management and security awareness training needs across the business, ensuring all personnel are equipped with the knowledge and skills to handle security threats.

  • Security Assessments & Drills: Facilitate and perform security assessments and emergency response drills, continuously reviewing and updating risk management protocols to enhance security preparedness.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent) in a relevant field, or equivalent professional experience in the security domain, including physical and threat assessment.

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in security risk management, preferably within the oil and gas industry or a similar sector.

  • Proven experience in conducting investigations into asset theft, criminal misconduct, and policy violations, alongside a solid understanding of security technology and related laws.

  • Extensive background in building and enhancing security programs, including creating strong relationships in a global-matrix environment.

  • Experience working in a multicultural and diverse team, with an aptitude for navigating complex, high-pressure situations.

  • Strong analytical and computer skills, with the ability to process and act on security data.

  • Possession of a valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate (this should be clearly stated on your resume).

  • A significant security background, such as experience in the military, police, DSS, or corporate security.

  • Availability to work at the Port Harcourt operational sites, as well as the Lagos office, with occasional home working flexibility.

  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate tactfully in challenging situations.

  • Willingness to travel as required by the role.
