Abia State University Uturu (ABSU) is a public university in Nigeria, owned by the state government. The university was established in 1981 as Imo State University, Etiti, in what is now Abia State. The initiative was spearheaded by Sam Mbakwe, the then Governor of Imo State. Initially, the main campus was located in Etiti, with the Law Department based in Aba. Between 1984 and 1985, the university was relocated to its permanent site in Uturu Okigwe under the leadership of General Ike Nwachukwu.
