Cristiano Ronaldo, Erling Haaland, and Harry Kane: 2023's Top Scorers
In 2023, Cristiano Ronaldo, at the age of 38, stands out as one of the few players with over 40 goals in all competitions. After leaving Manchester United abruptly in November 2022, Ronaldo's critics suggested retirement. However, he made a strong comeback by joining the Saudi Pro League in December, where he's been a force to reckon with, both for Al Nassr and Portugal.
Since January, Ronaldo has netted an impressive 44 goals, split between Al Nassr and Portugal's national team.
During the 2023-2024 season, the former Real Madrid and Juventus forward managed 12 goals in just eleven games for Al Nassr.
Erling Haaland, who represents Manchester City and the Norway national team, is another of the three players exceeding 40 goals in 2023. He set the Premier League goalscoring record in the previous season, finishing as the league's top scorer with 36 goals.
Since January 2023, the 23-year-old Norwegian striker has notched up 44 goals for Manchester City and Norway, with more expected by year-end.
Haaland, the 2023 Ballon d'Or runner-up, scored his 44th goal in Manchester City's 3-0 victory over United on October 39.
Harry Kane, the England captain who transferred from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich last summer, is the third player with over 40 goals this year. The 30-year-old England international has scored 43 goals for England and Bayern in 2023, making him a worthy successor to Robert Lewandowski at Bayern Munich.
