Edo University Postgraduate Admission Form 2024/2025

Edo State University invites applications from qualified candidates for admission into its prestigious array of Postgraduate Programmes for the 2024/2025 Academic Session. The programmes include Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master's Degree (M.Eng, M.Sc., MPA, M.A, and MBA), Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) across various faculties.

Application Procedure

To apply, prospective candidates must complete the online Postgraduate Application Form accessible via the Edo State University Uzairue website: https://www.edouniversity.edu.ng/pgadmissions/postgraduate

Application Fee

All applications require payment of a non-refundable application fee of Twenty-Five Thousand Naira (N25,000).

General Admission Requirements:

Candidates must possess a minimum of five (5) Credits at SSCE (WAEC/NECO/ GCE ‘O’ Level), NABTEB, or equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained not more than two sittings. Additionally, possession of an NYSC certificate or exemption letter is mandatory for admission into all Postgraduate programmes.

Detailed Programme Requirements

1. Postgraduate Diploma Programme (PGD):

   • Candidates must hold a First Degree not lower than Third Class Honors in relevant fields.
   • Applicants with an HND in a relevant field may be considered.
   • Possession of any relevant professional qualification is advantageous.

2. Master's Degree Programme (M.Eng, M.Sc., MA, MPA, MBA):

   • A minimum of Second Class Honors (Lower Division) degree from a recognized University is required.
   • Candidates with a relevant Postgraduate Diploma at credit level will be considered.
   • Possession of any relevant professional qualification deemed equivalent is acceptable.

3. Master of Philosophy Programme (M.Phil.):

   • Candidates must hold a Master's Degree with a weighted average score of not less than 50% (CGPA of not less than 3.0 on a 5-point scale).

4. Doctor of Philosophy Programme (PhD):

   • Applicants must possess a Master’s degree with a weighted average score of 60% and above (CGPA of not less than 4.0 on a 5-point scale).
   • Candidates falling short of the minimum requirements may be advised to register for the M.Phil/Ph.D. programme, with appropriate courses prescribed to address deficiencies.

Submission Requirements for PhD Applicants

PhD applicants must submit a concept note/research proposal of not more than 450 words along with their application form.

Programmes Offered by Faculties:

1. Faculty of Applied Health Sciences:

   • Department of Medical Laboratory Science: Offers PGD, MSc, MPhil, and PhD with various specialty options.
   • Department of Nursing Science: Offers PGD, MSc, MPhil, and PhD with specialized tracks.

2. Faculty of Arts, Management, and Social Sciences:

   • Various departments offer PGD, MSc, MBA, MPhil, and PhD programmes in disciplines such as Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, History, International Studies, Mass Communication, Political Science, and Public Administration.

3. Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences:

   • Department of Biochemistry offers MSc and PhD programmes.

4. Faculty of Engineering:

   • Various departments offer PGD, M.Eng., M.Phil., and PhD programmes in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

5. Faculty of Science:

   • Departments of Computer Science and Microbiology offer PGD, MSc, MPhil, and PhD programmes.

6. Faculty of Law:

   • The Department of Law offers PGD, LLM, MPhil, MPhil/PhD, and PhD programmes.

Duration of Programmes:

• PGD Programme: Minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters.
• Master's Degree Programme: Duration varies per programme, approved by the University Senate, ranging from a minimum of four (4) to six (6) semesters.
• Master of Philosophy Programme: A minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters.
• Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programme: Minimum of six (6) semesters and a maximum of ten (10) semesters.
