About the Job
The Electrical / Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for overseeing the electrical and instrumentation aspects of cement production. This role requires specialized knowledge and hands-on experience in cement industry engineering, with a focus on electrical systems and instrumentation control. You will execute tasks independently, using your judgment to adapt and apply techniques to ensure optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities
This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, some of which are outlined below. The successful candidate may be required to perform additional duties as needed to meet operational demands:
- Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance: Perform electrical and instrumentation tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
- Equipment Management: Ensure the continuous availability and optimal functioning of all electrical and instrumentation equipment used in production.
- Collaboration with Engineers: Coordinate with the Lead Engineer to ensure smooth execution of work plans.
- Third-Party Coordination: Supervise and coordinate third-party contractors, ensuring they meet performance standards.
- Maintenance Schedules: Execute predictive and preventive maintenance schedules with minimal supervision.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to health and safety procedures during all tasks to maintain a safe work environment.
Who You'll Be Working With
The Electrical / Instrumentation Technician will collaborate with several teams and individuals:
- Direct Reports: Supervise third-party contractors engaged in maintenance work.
- Key Stakeholders: Work closely with the Cross-Functional Team, maintenance team members, and all managers involved in the production process.
Who We Are Looking For
We seek an experienced and skilled candidate who meets the following criteria:
- Educational Qualifications: Minimum of OND/ND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- Industry Experience: At least 3 years of hands-on experience in integrated cement or large-scale industrial settings.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency with ABB and Siemens Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), cement industrial instrumentation, and controls.
- Regulatory Memberships: Membership in relevant bodies such as COREN or NSE is an advantage.
- Work Style: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Leadership and Management: Strong leadership capabilities with experience in managing diverse teams.
- Computer Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and email applications.
- Electrical Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with medium and low voltage electric motors, ABB switchgear, and 11KV/400V power distribution panels.
