We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to join our team in Rivers State, Nigeria. This is a contract-based position designed to support the operation, modification, and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems across various company assets and vessels. The successful candidate will be essential in ensuring that our systems are fully operational, supporting production and shipment processes, including the efficient operation of electrical distribution systems.

Job Description

The Electrical & Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for providing technical support and maintaining the electrical and instrumentation systems, ensuring their smooth operation and longevity. The role includes troubleshooting, fault analysis, regular maintenance, and system upgrades as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform regular maintenance and repair of all electrical installations, including alternators, control systems, electric motors, shutdown/control panels, charging systems, and pumps.
  • Maintain detailed service records and equipment schedules for timely inspections and maintenance.
  • Prepare and manage spare parts inventory, ensuring all necessary components are available for repairs and replacements.
  • Analyze faults and address issues in power distribution and control systems, including electrical enunciated instruments and pumps.
  • Conduct overhauls of electrical equipment, replacing components, performing alignments, and calibrating equipment to meet specifications.
  • Monitor and maintain earthing systems, ensuring their proper function and safety.
  • Conduct audits and inspections of all electrical equipment within the facility, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of Cathodic Protection (CP) systems.
  • Provide daily status reports on electrical and electronic facility performance.
  • Implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for electrical, electronic, and control equipment.
  • Upgrade and maintain Cathodic protection units, including for flow stations and pipelines.
  • Install and maintain electric motors and pumps, ensuring they meet operational standards.
  • Perform field calibration of totalizers and other control circuitry using proper test equipment.
  • Design, install, and modify control circuits, including implementing new control logic and electrical systems as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot hard-wired relay logic, motor control circuits, and common utility/lighting circuits.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical machinery, electronic control circuitry, and panels.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
  • Proven experience in team building and collaboration.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software and computer applications.
  • Ability to interpret As-built electrical drawings and designs.
  • Knowledge in the design, installation, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems.

  • Gas Plant, Flow Station, Amukpe Lact Unit, Drilling Locations.
