Today, exciting new enhancements to data analysis in ChatGPT are being rolled out. These updates bring a suite of new features designed to improve how users interact with and analyze their data:

How Data Analysis Works in ChatGPT
ChatGPT’s data analysis capabilities are getting a significant boost. Users can now upload one or more data files, which ChatGPT will analyze by writing and running Python code on their behalf. This feature supports a range of data tasks, from merging and cleaning large datasets to creating charts and uncovering insights. It's designed to make in-depth data analysis accessible for beginners while saving experts time on routine tasks.

This eliminates the need to download files to your desktop before uploading them to ChatGPT, streamlining the process. ChatGPT can quickly understand and work with your Google Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint files.
Real-Time Table Interaction
ChatGPT now offers the ability to work on tables in real-time. When a dataset is added, ChatGPT creates an interactive table that can be expanded to a full-screen view. Users can follow along as the table updates during analysis, click on specific areas to ask follow-up questions, or use suggested prompts to dive deeper into their analysis. For instance, users can combine spreadsheets of monthly expenses and create a pivot table categorized by expense type.

Customizing Presentation-Ready Charts
Users can now customize and interact with various chart types, including bar, line, pie, and scatter plots, directly within the conversation. They can hover over chart elements, ask additional questions, and select colors. Once customized, charts can be downloaded for use in presentations or documents. For example, selecting a Google Sheet with the latest user data and asking ChatGPT to create a chart showing retention rates by cohort is now a seamless process.
These new interactive features cover many chart types, with ChatGPT generating a static version for unsupported charts.
Comprehensive Security and Privacy
As always, trust and data privacy remain at the core of ChatGPT’s mission. OpenAI does not train on data from ChatGPT Team and Enterprise customers, and ChatGPT Plus users can opt out of training through their Data Controls.
