The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), in collaboration with the United Nations – African Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education-English (UN-ARCSSTE-E), invites applications for the 2024/2025 academic session. This partnership offers specialized postgraduate programmes in space science and technology, equipping students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in cutting-edge fields.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• A minimum of a Second Class Lower (2:2) Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, preferably in the sciences, from a recognized university.

• Completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or possession of an exemption certificate.

• HND holders with an Upper Credit in a relevant Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) programme may be considered.

• Submission of official academic transcripts to the designated address.

Graduation Requirements

To successfully graduate from the programme, students must:

• Obtain a minimum score of 50% in coursework and the M.Tech thesis project as per FUTA postgraduate regulations.

• Complete the required coursework:

  • 44 course units for Satellite Communication and Basic Space Physics

  • 42 course units for Satellite Meteorology

  • 48 course units for Remote Sensing and GIS

• Successfully present two thesis seminars (proposal and final presentation).

• Complete and defend a research thesis through an oral examination.

Fees and Payment Plan

• Admission Acceptance Fee: N25,000

• Tuition Fee: N350,000

• Payment Schedule: At least 60% of the tuition fee must be paid before lectures commence. The remaining balance must be settled before the end of the first semester.
