Established in 1998, the Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN) stands as a prominent non-governmental organization, serving as the unified voice of individuals living with HIV/AIDS in the country. NEPWHAN, registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Nigeria since September 2004, has played a pivotal role in advocating for the rights and needs of people living with HIV/AIDS.
Celebrating seventeen years of impactful service, NEPWHAN has established robust structures across Nigeria, including at the zonal and state levels, as well as within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). With over 1,030 support groups nationwide, NEPWHAN boasts one of Africa's largest patient networks. The organization has also formed constituent bodies such as the Association of Youth Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (APYIN), the Association of Women Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (ASWHAN), and the Association of Religious Leaders Living with and Personally Affected by HIV/AIDS (NINERELA+) to address specific programming interventions tailored to their target demographics.
Currently, NEPWHAN is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Finance Assistant. This role will be based in Abuja (FCT) on a contractual basis.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Providing comprehensive support to the Finance Officer and Project Team in accordance with NEPWHAN procedures.
- Handling accounting tasks including document generation, initiation, and control of payment support documents.
- Ensuring compliance with NEPWHAN rules, GAAP, and donor/partner requirements in maintaining accounting records.
- Managing prepayment and cash advances, updating subsidiary ledgers, and maintaining timely accounting records.
- Conducting monthly bank reconciliation statements and overseeing payment and posting on QuickBooks.
- Preparing periodic financial reports, including staff salary payroll and related payments.
- Offering financial monitoring and reporting to ensure project activities align with NEPWHAN regulations and donor guidelines.
- Implementing internal controls and facilitating effective financial resource management.
- Assisting in the preparation of financial reports for donors, government entities, and other stakeholders.
- Following up on audit recommendations and performing other administrative and financial duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Accounting, Banking and Finance, Economics, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of finance experience in a reputable organization.
- Membership or pursuit of ACCA, ANAN, or ICAN certification is advantageous.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Experience with web-based management systems is desirable.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a team.
