Barcelona's Gavi Faces Extended Absence After ACL Injury: 2023-2024 Season in Jeopardy
Barcelona's rising star, Gavi, may be sidelined for the entirety of the 2023-2024 season following an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture during Spain's November international break. The 19-year-old midfielder, who visibly expressed his anguish upon exiting the field after a stumble, is set to undergo surgery to address the injury.
Barcelona officially confirmed the "complete tear of the ACL," with more details expected in the coming days. The recovery period, estimated at eight to ten months, jeopardizes Gavi's participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2024 European Championship.
Having made 111 appearances for FC Barcelona since his senior debut in 2021, Gavi's absence will impact the team's midfield dynamics. The injury also dashes his hopes of contributing to Spain's campaigns in the upcoming major tournaments.

Spain's manager, Luis de la Fuente, lamented the bitter turn of events during Sunday's 3-1 victory over Georgia, describing it as the "most bitter victory I have experienced in my life" due to Gavi's injury, which occurred just 26 minutes into the game.
