Google, Microsoft, and Meta Collaborate to Enhance Global App Security
In a collaborative effort, tech industry leaders Google, Microsoft, and Meta have established a steering committee to bolster app security on a global scale through the revitalized App Defense Alliance.
Originally initiated by Google in 2019, the App Defense Alliance was created with the primary objective of ensuring the security of the Google Play Store and the broader Android app ecosystem. Its initial focus centered on the detection and prevention of malware.
Now, the platform is undergoing a significant reinforcement as Microsoft and Meta join forces with Google to drive the adoption of enhanced security measures across all types of applications.
This expanded steering committee, composed of these three powerhouse companies, aims to broaden the scope of the Alliance by fostering collaborative efforts to establish industry-wide standards for app security.
According to a statement released by the Linux Foundation, the evolution of the App Defense Alliance marks a pivotal advancement in the field and showcases a shared commitment among its members to fortify app security and related standards across various ecosystems.
