The Flemish Ministry of Education and Training provides Master Mind Scholarships for exceptional international students pursuing master’s programs in Flanders and Brussels. Each scholarship encompasses a €10,000 grant and a tuition fee waiver per academic year (60 ECTS).
Applicants are only required to pay an administrative enrollment fee, as the grant covers accommodation expenses, insurance, and a significant portion of their living costs. Interested individuals must initially apply to one of the Flemish host institutions participating in the Master Mind Scholarship Programme.
EligibIity for the Government of Flanders Master Mind Scholarships:
- Seek admission to a master’s degree program at a Flemish higher education institution.
- Demonstrate a high level of academic achievement with a GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0.
- Show proficiency in English by meeting the following criteria:
- Achieve an overall minimum band score of 7.0 on the IELTS test or a minimum total score of 94 on the TOEFL test.
- Attain a C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference or equivalent in another officially recognized language test accepted by the host institution.
- For applicants to schools of arts:
- Achieve a minimum overall band score of 6.5 on the IELTS test or a minimum total score of 90 on the TOEFL test.
- Attain a B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference or equivalent in another officially recognized English language test accepted by the host institution.
- Acceptance by the host institution is mandatory for scholarship eligibility, even if the decision is made after the Master Mind Scholarship program selection.
- Each applicant can only be nominated by one Flemish higher education institution. If preselected by multiple institutions, applicants must choose one for application submission via the Mobility Online tool.
- All nationalities, except for Russian, are eligible to apply. Previous degrees must be from a higher education institution located outside Flanders.
- Students currently enrolled in a Flemish higher education institution are ineligible, except for international students enrolled in a specific preparatory program for a master’s program starting in September 2024.
- Students enrolling in certain programs for the academic year 2024-2025, including preparatory, bridging, and distance learning programs, are ineligible for the Master Mind Scholarship.
- Student mobility to partner institutions outside Flanders and Brussels during the master’s program is allowed, but at least half of the study credits must be obtained at the Flemish host institution.
