We Are Recruiting for the Position of Head Office Controller

Location: Apapa, Lagos

Purpose of the Job

The Head Office Controller will play a pivotal role in managing budgets at the Corporate Head Office (CHO), ensuring effective cost allocation, budget compliance, and proactive management of cost trends. This role is crucial to optimizing CHO costs, aligning cost allocations with business activities, and driving cost-saving initiatives across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Managing CHO Cost Operations
    The Head Office Controller will oversee cost operations at the CHO, ensuring all costs are recorded accurately and in compliance with company policies. The role involves aligning expenditures with budget and LE targets, ensuring financial integrity.

  2. Monthly Financial Reviews
    Conduct monthly reviews with CHO budget holders to address budget variances, ensuring that financial goals for the year are achieved. The controller will facilitate discussions to identify areas for cost improvement and resource optimization.

  3. Coordinating Cost Savings Initiatives
    The Head Office Controller will consolidate and track Group-wide cost-saving initiatives. By collaborating with the Procurement department, the role will drive cost-saving projects and monitor the actual performance against set targets.

  4. Compliance and Internal Controls
    Ensuring adherence to internal controls, policies, and all regulatory requirements for financial transactions and reporting is a critical aspect of the role. This will involve regular audits and evaluations of financial systems to maintain transparency.

  5. Project Oversight
    Oversee Group projects, ensuring adherence to budgets and the accurate classification of costs in Profit and Loss (P&L) statements. This includes ensuring the proper capitalization of intangible assets related to ongoing projects.

  6. Cost Analysis and Reporting
    Analyze Group Indirect Costs and identify key cost drivers. The role will also involve addressing variances in Business Units that exceed their budget targets, driving efficiency and ensuring that cost management strategies are effectively implemented.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education:
    A B.Sc. or HND in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field is required.

  • Skills:
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), along with experience in using analytical tools for financial management.

  • Experience:
    At least 5 years of experience in the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) industry, preferably in a cost management or financial control role.

  • Certifications:
    ACA/ACCA certification is a strong advantage.
