Position Summary
Pally Food Limited, a key player within the Pally Agro Group, is seeking a dedicated Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in fostering a safe, healthy, and environmentally conscious workplace. This role requires adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards, ensuring that our operations align with our commitment to maintaining a safe and sustainable environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal company policies.
- Work collaboratively with various departments to integrate HSE practices into everyday operations and decision-making processes.
- Monitor and analyze HSE performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Lead and facilitate HSE training and awareness programs for all employees to promote a culture of safety.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, implementing corrective and preventive actions to enhance workplace safety.
- Champion environmental stewardship initiatives and work towards reducing environmental impacts.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Incident Rate: Achieve a 20% reduction in reportable incidents within the first year, with a sustained reduction of at least 10% annually thereafter.
- Audit Compliance: Attain an average audit score of 90% or higher in both internal and external audits.
- Training Participation: Ensure 100% participation in mandatory HSE training programs for all staff members.
- Environmental Performance: Achieve a 25% reduction in environmental incidents (e.g., spills, waste management issues) within the first year, maintaining a minimum of 10% annual reduction thereafter.
- HSE Culture Survey: Secure an average score of 4.5/5 or higher on annual HSE culture surveys, reflecting a proactive and positive safety culture.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in HSE management, with a preference for experience in the food processing or manufacturing sector.
- In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Strong communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, ISO 14001) are highly desirable.
Salary
N100,000 - N150,000 monthly.
