How to Clean Your Waterpik: Expert Tips for Maintenance & Hygiene

Ensure your Waterpik stays as clean as your smile with these simple steps. Keeping your Waterpik pristine is a breeze, thanks to these expert tips from board-certified dentist Pradeep Adatrow.

Step 1: Cleaning the Water Reservoir

Start by removing the water reservoir and giving it a thorough wash in the top rack of your dishwasher. Let it air dry before reattaching.

Next, flush the internal parts with a solution of warm water and white vinegar to maintain hygiene. Finally, soak the handle and tip separately in a mixture of water and white vinegar before rinsing and allowing them to dry.

Step 2: Cleaning the Flosser & Internal Parts

Prioritize purging the flosser before and after each use to prevent bacteria buildup. Regularly run a diluted vinegar solution through the flosser to remove mineral deposits and disinfect.

Leave the reservoir unattached to ensure proper drying between uses.

Step 3: Cleaning the Handle and Tip

For countertop models, clean the handle separately by soaking it in a mixture of water and white vinegar. Soak the flosser tip in a solution of water and hydrogen peroxide or white vinegar before rinsing thoroughly.

Remember to replace the Waterpik tip every 3-6 months to maintain effectiveness.

With these steps, your Waterpik will remain as effective as the day you bought it, ensuring a thorough clean for your oral hygiene routine.
