Situated within the expansive TGI Group multi-factory complex in Sagamu, Ogun State, WACUB Limited has quickly emerged as a prominent player in the food seasoning market, spearheading a lineup of flagship brands. Leading this charge is our Terra Seasoning Cube, available in both Chicken and Beef variants, setting new standards for flavor enhancement in West African cuisine.

We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our team in the capacity of Inventory Accountant. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient management and control of our inventory, fixed assets, and insurance processes. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our financial records and supporting our commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management:

  • Conduct regular stock taking activities, including weekly cycle counts and month-end reconciliations across all warehouse inventory categories.
  • Perform surprise checks to verify stock positions and adherence to inventory control procedures.
  • Process vendor invoices, ensuring alignment with purchase orders and goods received notes.
  • Reconcile inventory sub-ledgers with general ledger accounts and generate comprehensive inventory reports.
  • Monitor inventory aging and propose corrective actions where necessary.
  • Implement and enhance inventory control measures to mitigate risks and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Verify adherence to controls during the loading of finished goods trucks.
  • Prepare monthly and year-end inventory schedules reconciled to general ledger accounts.
  • Provide explanations to internal and external auditors regarding inventory-related inquiries.

Fixed Asset Management:

  • Facilitate the creation of capital expenditure requests and maintain accurate records of property, plant, and equipment (PPE).
  • Prepare PPE schedules reconciled to general ledger accounts and analyze budget variances.
  • Ensure proper tagging of company assets for verification purposes.
  • Recognize purchased PPE in accordance with company policies and financial reporting standards.
  • Compute monthly depreciation of PPE and post relevant entries to ledger accounts.

Insurance Oversight:

  • Review insurance coverage on a monthly basis and recommend additional coverage as needed.
  • Recognize insurance expenses for financial reporting purposes.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of insurance policies for audit compliance.

Other Duties:

  • Process advance payments for both local and foreign vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and maintain confidentiality of personal data.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Financial Controller.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Proficiency in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), inventory, and fixed asset management.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a similar role within the FMCG sector.
  • Professional certification such as ACA or ACCA is preferred.
  • Attention to detail, integrity, teamwork, and flexibility are essential qualities.
