Job Summary
Cultural Engagement is made up of three pillars: Arts, Education, and English Programmes. These programme areas are implemented across several counties in Sub-Saharan Africa, with Nigeria being one of the key markets. We are recruiting highly motivated interns for our Lagos office, offering an opportunity to contribute to the British Council's mission in Cultural Engagement in Nigeria.
As an intern, you are encouraged to bring new perspectives and innovative ideas to our work while improving your skills in a diverse and stimulating environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor, upload content, and manage basic enquiries across social media platforms.
- Develop creative and engaging social media and content strategies.
- Develop tools and methods for collecting data, such as surveys, opinion polls, or questionnaires.
- Provide support with the planning and hosting of marketing events.
- Collect and analyze data to identify consumer trends.
- Research emerging marketing strategies, evaluate consumer opinions, and propose actionable adjustments to current strategies.
- Work with the Marketing Manager for the planning and promotion of content.
- Support campaign management and optimization across multiple channels.
- Assist with email management and optimization.
- Recommend improvements to increase performance on the British Council Nigeria website.
- Perform any other tasks reasonably requested by the Marketing Manager or a senior member of the marketing team.

- General understanding of the work and mission of the British Council and how it contributes to the development of Nigeria.
- Insight and hands-on experience in planning and implementing digital campaigns for Arts, Education, and English Programmes.
- Gain useful office experience and the opportunity to contribute to marketing campaigns.

Profile of Intern
Essential
- Maximum of 3 years post-NYSC in any field of study.
- Recent graduate (within the last 4 years) with excellent organisational skills and the ability to multitask.
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and a professional drive.
- Interest in various marketing techniques, including digital and social media marketing.
- Experience with content creation is a plus.
- Familiarity with social media strategies and platforms.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable
- Knowledge of social media trends and social networking tools.
- Experience creating web content, such as blogging or video blogging, is an added advantage.
Management and Support for the Role
The intern will report to the Regional Marketing Officer, CE Marketing, and work closely with other members of the Cultural Engagement Marketing team.
