COOPI in Nigeria

COOPI began operations in North-East Nigeria in July 2014, addressing the dire constraints faced by Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) due to the food crisis and insurgency in the Lake Chad Basin. We focus on delivering life-saving multi-sectoral emergency assistance in the areas of food security, nutrition, education, and protection for IDPs, returnees, and host communities in Yobe, Borno, and Sokoto States.

COOPI is seeking to recruit dedicated and skilled individuals to join our team as MEAL Assistants in Yobe State.

Job Overview

The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Assistant will support data management, complaint resolution, and program implementation at the LGA level. Working under the guidance of the MEAL Officer, the Assistant will play a critical role in monitoring, analyzing, and reporting program data to enhance the quality and impact of COOPI’s interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Management: Receive, clean, and organize data from field staff; ensure proper documentation and storage of data.
  • Complaint Resolution: Actively participate in sensitization sessions, set up Complaint Response Mechanisms (CRMs), and provide timely feedback to beneficiaries.
  • Field Support: Collaborate with field teams to facilitate surveys, data collection, and logistics for program implementation.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Track program indicators, ensure databases are updated, and assist in preparing high-quality reports.
  • Capacity Building: Provide mentorship and training to field staff to ensure effective project implementation.
  • Project Tools Development: Develop and maintain tools for project monitoring and evaluation.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • A Degree or Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation, Sociology, Economics, Rural Development, Statistics, or related fields.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of work experience, preferably in M&E or developmental projects.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
  • Strong knowledge of data collection tools and Excel for analysis.
  • Familiarity with electronic data collection platforms.
  • Fluency in Hausa and Kanuri is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel to remote areas with limited services.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
