Job Description
As the MEAL Officer, you will operate under the supervision of the MEAL Activity Manager, overseeing the monitoring and evaluation of program activities. You will be responsible for collecting data and providing evidence of the program's progress and achievements.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)
- Collaborate with the MEAL Activity Manager to organize and plan M&E missions.
- Develop monitoring tools and prepare database frames based on questionnaires.
- Ensure timely data entry, consistency, and quality of collected data.
- Maintain a standardized database format for routine and periodic reporting.
- Identify potential negative impacts of activities and monitor crosscutting aspects like gender and “do no harm.”
- Provide preliminary recommendations to improve activities.
- Monitor the humanitarian situation and assist in external M&E missions.
- Collect and oversee monitoring data at the field level, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all aspects.
Reporting and Communication
- Draft M&E reports and provide necessary project updates and recommendations.
- Participate in seminars and training workshops related to M&E activities.
- Regularly report to the team lead on activity evolution, challenges faced, and beneficiary relations.
- Collaborate with local authorities and administration while ensuring data security.
HR Management
- Participate in the recruitment and training of the monitoring team (enumerators / DW).
- Supervise and build the capacity of the monitoring team.
Candidate Profile
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in statistics, social work, social sciences, project management, or a related field.
- Experience: At least one year of experience in M&E with national or international NGOs.
- Languages: Proficient in English; knowledge of Hausa or Kanuri is an advantage.
- IT Skills: Proficient in Excel (data input, basic analysis) and Kobo Toolbox.
