Position Overview
The Medical Strategic Account Director, East (NC, SC) will play a pivotal role in advancing scientific and medical innovation to support Sanofi's Rare Disease portfolio and improve patient outcomes. This position involves close collaboration with the Strategic Account Director, Commercial, and entails the co-creation and execution of account plans, as well as overseeing medical activities within designated regions. This role will report directly to the Divisional General Manager, Medical.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Development: Deeply understand our cross-rare customers and their specific needs, strategically developing and co-creating tailored solutions to address those needs.
- Therapeutic Oversight: Manage five therapeutic areas and seven brands while building and gaining approval for account-specific plans.
- Decision-Making: Utilize a combined business and scientific mindset to make informed decisions and build actionable plans.
- Collaboration: Partner with the Strategic Account Director, Commercial, to co-create cross-portfolio account plans for key accounts in the designated geography.
- KOL Engagement: Develop and expand a network of Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) for peer-to-peer engagement within targeted accounts.
- Clinical Support: Identify suitable clinical trial and registry sites, providing comprehensive support throughout the trial process.
- Health Economics Research: Assist in designing and developing health economics and outcomes research to identify and address care gaps.
- Payer Education: Provide education on disease states and treatment outcomes to payers across the portfolio while gathering valuable payer insights.
- Insight Gathering: Gain in-depth insights into the medical needs and priorities of accounts for cross-rare patients, co-leading Sanofi's account planning and orchestrating medical engagement.
- Partnership Cultivation: Establish and nurture scientific partnerships within the rare disease community to foster collaboration and enhance medical support efforts.
- HCP Engagement: Enhance medical awareness among healthcare providers (HCPs) regarding significant medical discoveries and practice trends through educational initiatives, including the communication of important outcomes data related to Sanofi products.
- Facilitation of Dialogue: Facilitate constructive discussions among HCPs about rare diseases to promote knowledge exchange and best practices in patient care.
- Team Development: Manage, coach, and develop the Regional Medical Liaison-Key Accounts team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate medical insights into commercial strategies and patient support programs, ensuring compliance with Sanofi policies and regulations.
- Market Awareness: Stay updated on emerging scientific and technological advances, such as digital diagnosis and regulatory requirements, to inform strategic decision-making.
- Community Relationships: Develop and maintain relationships with state newborn screening labs and state Departments of Health.
About You
- Educational Background: Advanced degree in a relevant scientific or medical field (e.g., Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Medicine).
- Experience: Proven experience in a medical field role within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, particularly in rare diseases or specialized therapeutic areas.
- Project Coordination: Experience coordinating and supporting clinical trials, research initiatives, and other medical/scientific projects.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams, including commercial, medical, and regulatory, to achieve shared goals.
- Networking Skills: Robust network development abilities, with a demonstrated track record of establishing connections and infrastructure for key accounts.
- MSL Experience: Prior experience as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL).

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $195,000 - $280,000. In addition to a sales incentive (the role may be eligible for long-term incentive based on level and performance), all compensation will be determined in accordance with demonstrated experience.
