Youth Development and Empowerment Initiative (YEDI) is a Nigerian non-profit organization focused on evidence-based programs to enhance youth health, access to services, and adherence to healthy behaviors. Since 2011, YEDI has impacted over 451,693 young people across Lagos, Kano, Abuja, Akwa-Ibom, Ogun, and Rivers states. Our expertise includes adolescent sexual and reproductive health & rights (SRHR), programming for orphans and vulnerable children and youth (OCVY), HIV and gender-based violence (GBV) prevention, neglected tropical diseases (NTD) awareness, positive youth development, and community mobilization.

Job Title: MERL Coordinator
Location: Lagos

Reports to: MERL Manager
Overview
YEDI is seeking a qualified MERL Coordinator to support monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) activities for programs aimed at educating, empowering, and inspiring youth and communities in Nigeria. The role involves working under the MERL Manager to enhance program effectiveness through innovative development approaches.
Major Accountabilities
Monitoring and Evaluation (60%):
- Provide technical support for baseline surveys, reviews, and evaluations.
- Develop and manage monitoring systems for reporting and dissemination.
- Conduct training in M&E skills for staff and coaches.
- Update and maintain M&E information systems.
- Undertake field visits to support M&E implementation and identify improvements.
- Share M&E findings with staff, partners, and stakeholders.
- Manage surveys, data collection, and analysis.
- Develop tools for monitoring impact and data quality assurance.
- Conduct research to inform program improvements.
- Prepare progress reports on M&E findings.
Program Management (20%):
- Contribute to state-level program activities including reporting, budgeting, and execution.
- Support the development of work plans and program implementation.
- Identify staff capacity development needs and plan staff meetings.
Stakeholder Management (10%):
- Collaborate with program teams and partners for effective MERL activities.
- Coordinate partner meetings.
Financial Management/Governance (10%):
- Assist in preparing the annual budget for MERL activities.
- Ensure compliance with YEDI’s policies and procedures.
Education & Qualifications
- Master’s degree in social science, Public Health, or related field preferred; Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum 2 years of managerial experience in MERL systems for youth/SRHR projects in Nigeria.
- Experience managing MERL systems for multinational-funded youth projects.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative evaluation methodologies.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of other Nigerian languages is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, under pressure, and in cross-cultural settings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, SPSS, Survey Monkey, and other communication platforms.
Salary: N250,000 - N300,000 per month.
