MOFA Taiwan Fellowship 2025-2026: Fully Funded Research Scholarship

This fully funded fellowship supports foreign researchers conducting studies related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, the Asia-Pacific region, and Sinology.

About the MOFA Taiwan Fellowship

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Taiwan Fellowship is designed to support global scholars in conducting advanced research at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan. Since its inception, the program has welcomed 934 scholars from 78 countries. It also includes 12 APEC Fellowship openings exclusively for scholars from developing APEC economies.

Fellowship Benefits

The MOFA Taiwan Fellowship provides:

  • Monthly stipend:

    • NT$60,000 for professors, associate professors, research fellows, and associate research fellows.

    • NT$50,000 for assistant professors, assistant research fellows, and doctoral candidates.

  • One round-trip economy-class ticket for the most direct route between the applicant’s country of residence and Taiwan.

  • Accident insurance with coverage of NT$1 million, plus an additional NT$50,000 for medical insurance related to accidental injuries.

Note: Recipients cannot receive scholarships from other governmental agencies or work part-time in Taiwan without MOFA’s approval.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the MOFA Taiwan Fellowship, applicants must:

  • Be foreign professors, associate professors, assistant professors, postdoctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, or equivalent research fellows in overseas academic institutions.

  • Submit a research paper of at least 20 pages within three months of completing the fellowship.

  • Attend academic seminars and relevant activities organized by MOFA during their stay in Taiwan.
