Applications are open for admission into the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Certificate, Diploma, Undergraduate, Postgraduate Diploma, Masters Degree, and Doctor Of Philosophy (Ph.D) Programmes. NOUN offers flexible study options, empowering students to determine the pace, place, time, and medium of study. Support facilities are available at all NOUN Study Centres nationwide.

NOUN Admission Requirements Overview:

1. Certificate Programmes:
- Proficiency Certificate Programmes: No prior experience required, basic literacy advantageous.
- University (Academic) Certificate Programmes: Various qualifications accepted including Junior Secondary School Certificate, T.C II, or mature candidates with relevant work experience.
2. Diploma Programmes:
- Minimum of three credits in relevant subjects at SSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level, NECO, or NABTEB required.
- NOUN Academic Certificate and Certificates from recognized institutions also accepted.
3. Undergraduate Programmes:
For 100 Level admission:
- Obtain five credits in SSCE/GCE O’Level/NECO/NABTEB or equivalents in relevant subjects within two sittings.
- Teachers’ Grade II Certificates require a minimum of five merits or its combination with other certificates for equivalent credits.
- School of Law applicants must have five credits including English Language, Literature in English, and at least a credit in Mathematics within two sittings of NECO/SSCE or GCE O/L.
- School of Arts and Social Sciences necessitates one credit in English Language and at least two credits in relevant subjects.
- School of Management Sciences mandates credit passes in English and Mathematics.
- School of Education requires Mathematics for Science Education and English Language for all humanities, with additional English Language credit for Science Education.
- School of Science and Technology necessitates credits in Mathematics and English Language.
- Minimum entry requirement for B.Sc. Environmental Science and Resource Management is five credits at not more than two sittings, including English Language, Mathematics, and any of Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, and Economics.
For 200 Level admission:
- National Diploma at Upper Credit from recognized institutions.
- National Certificate in Education (NCE) with a minimum of one merit and two passes in relevant subjects.
- International Baccalaureates or Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) with at least two ‘A’ Level papers in relevant subjects and prerequisite O’ Level credit passes.
- School of Law applicants require a minimum of Second Class (Lower) degree with specific credits.
- School of Science & Technology candidates may be admitted into the 300 Level with specified qualifications.
- Other Requirements include relevant subjects for ‘O’ level and ‘A’ level passes, specific credit passes in Mathematics and English Language, and additional criteria for certain programs like B.A English, B.A. (Ed) English, and B.Sc. Mass Communication.
- Holders of First Degree, HND, or RN with relevant work experience may be considered for advanced placement and waiver.
- Candidates awaiting results must meet entry requirements for processing of applications.
4. Postgraduate Diploma Programmes:
- Bachelor Degree or HND with a minimum of Lower Credit required.
- Specific qualifications for certain fields apply.
5. Masters Degree Programmes:
- First degree with Second Class Lower or postgraduate diploma in related field accepted.
- Honours degree in Education from recognized universities also eligible.
6. Doctor Of Philosophy (Ph.D) Programmes:
- Masters degree in relevant field with a minimum score average or CGPA specified.
- Interactive session and academic records submission required.
7. Access Programme:
- Remedial Programme offered at ‘O’ level to increase access to Higher Education.
- Face-to-face teaching for a full academic year with National ‘O’ Level examinations thereafter.

The application process for NOUN admission is entirely online:

- On the Home Page, navigate to the Menu Bar and click on "Apply for Admission".
- Choose your desired program: Undergraduate, Postgraduate, PhD, or ACETEL Programmes.
- Select your Faculty from the options provided on the left-hand side of the screen.
- Fill out the displayed form with the required information.
- Click below to view the admission criteria.
- Click "Apply" to proceed with your application.
- Take note of the UNIQUE ID displayed for your application.
- Click the "Continue" button to proceed with the application process.
- Select "Bank Branch" as the payment type.
- Click "Pay" to generate your RRR number.
- Copy the RRR number and proceed to any bank branch for payment.
Application Fees:
- Undergraduate Programmes: N5,000.00
- Postgraduate (PGD and Masters) Programmes: N7,500.00
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Programmes: N10,000.00
