Job Purpose
As a Neighbourhood Channel Sales Manager at PZ Cussons, you will play a pivotal role in implementing the sales strategy to meet business objectives within the assigned neighbourhood. This position requires someone who can drive performance and inspire teams, even without direct managerial responsibility over distributor staff. Your ability to influence and motivate will be key to expanding brand visibility and achieving sales targets.
Role Scope & Context
This position is integral to the success of PZ Cussons' commercial strategy. The Neighbourhood Channel Sales Manager is a leader in both driving sales volume and contributing to brand-building activities within the assigned area. The role demands exceptional sales and market intelligence skills, along with a deep understanding of the competitive landscape.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Sales Performance Management:
- Lead and support Van Sales Representatives (VSRs) to ensure the achievement of secondary sales targets.
- Expand coverage in neighbourhood outlets to increase market reach.

Brand Visibility and Market Presence:
- Ensure that PZ Cussons’ products are prominently displayed and visible in all neighbourhood outlets.
- Drive brand-building activities through the execution of successful merchandising strategies, adhering to our brand’s "Picture of Success."

Market Intelligence and Competitor Analysis:
- Collect and report market intelligence, closely monitoring competitor activities and providing timely feedback to the team.
- Identify market trends and ensure the availability of products in the targeted outlets.

Performance Coaching and Development:
- Provide ongoing coaching and support to VSRs, helping them improve performance and sales strategies.
- Actively manage and monitor the effectiveness of promotional campaigns in neighbourhood outlets.

Sales Force Automation (SFA):
- Track and ensure that SFA parameters are met, optimizing performance across all key metrics.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: A first-degree in any discipline.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience in marketing or sales, with proven success in achieving KPIs.
- Skills:
- Knowledge of the PZ Cussons sales strategy, focusing on point-of-purchase execution and brand passion.
- Proficient in field sales management, outlet segmentation, and relationship management.
- Strong understanding of business objectives and sales management.
- Valid driver’s license and experience driving in a field sales environment.
