The International Education group at Cambridge University Press & Assessment proudly reveals Odufeso Tajudeen, a teacher from Isara Secondary School in Isara Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria, as the regional champion of the 2024 Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards.
The Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards stands as a global beacon, honoring the remarkable contributions of educators worldwide. In its sixth edition, this esteemed competition underscores the pivotal role teachers play in shaping the future generation and equipping them for the complexities of the world.
Nominations for this accolade are open to students, parents, and peers, recognizing the outstanding commitment of primary and secondary educators to their students' academic journey.
As the regional victor, Odufeso will be awarded £500 worth of books for his classroom, alongside a trophy and participation in a regional awards ceremony. Furthermore, he will receive commendations for himself and his school throughout the upcoming year, including acknowledgment in new Cambridge textbooks.
Odufeso secured his title as the Sub-Saharan Africa regional winner due to his unwavering dedication to equity, inclusivity, and sustainable education advocacy. His teaching methods, centered on student collaboration and enhancing critical thinking skills, earned praise from judges. Notably, his initiative to conduct online classes during the Covid-19 pandemic for students in vulnerable communities garnered admiration.
Expressing his gratitude, Odufeso stated, "Receiving the Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Award for our region is a profound honor. This recognition not only highlights my personal dedication but also underscores the resilience and enthusiasm of my students. It reaffirms our shared belief in education as a catalyst for positive change in our community and beyond."
The 2024 edition of the awards saw an unprecedented number of nominations, with 14,840 submissions spanning 141 countries, surpassing the previous record by over 1,000 nominations.

The public now has the opportunity to vote for their favorite teacher among the nine regional winners to determine the overall champion of the 2024 Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards. Voting closes on May 6, 2024, with the Global Winner announcement scheduled for May 29, 2024.
