Position Description
As a Physician Editor, you will be an integral part of a collaborative editorial team that includes other Physician Editors, Staff Editors, and a Marketing Team. Your primary responsibilities will encompass the following:
- Content Creation and Editing: Write and edit chapters for both professional and consumer audiences, ensuring that all content is complete, accurate, current, stylistically consistent, and clinically relevant.
- Collaboration: Work closely with external contributors and internal teams to maintain high standards of content quality and achieve editorial workflow objectives.
- Project Participation: Engage in additional projects as directed by management, contributing to the continuous improvement of our manuals and related content.
- Digital Content Development: Help identify, create, and review diverse digital content formats such as videos, images, quizzes, and case studies to enhance the educational offerings of The Manuals.
- Marketing Collaboration: Partner with the marketing team to develop and review social media campaigns, editorials, and other promotional content as needed.
- Training and Development: Assist in training and developing staff editors, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
- Professional Engagement: Actively participate in relevant professional activities and promotional events (e.g., trade shows) to represent The Manuals and contribute to our visibility in the medical community.
- Clinical Awareness: Stay clinically informed and engaged with current medical practices to ensure that content remains relevant and applicable.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- MD or DO degree
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, preferably within an academic medical institution.
- Proven writing and editing skills specific to medical content.
- Experience in teaching medical subjects.
Desired Experience and Skills
- Current clinical practice involvement.
- Project management expertise.
- Familiarity with digital publication and social media platforms.
- Ability to communicate medical concepts to lay audiences effectively.
- Experience in crafting test questions for medical professionals.

Compensation and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $220,700 - $347,500, contingent upon skills, experience, and location. Benefits include bonus eligibility, comprehensive health care options, retirement plans, paid holidays, vacation days, and sick leave.
Work Environment
As of September 5, 2023, the company operates on a hybrid work model, with employees expected to be on-site for three days each week, typically Tuesday, Wednesday, and either Monday or Thursday, with Friday designated for remote work.
