SPIE Oil & Gas Services is seeking a skilled and experienced Port Operations Officer to join our team in Lagos. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating a wide range of port and shipping operations, ensuring that all activities are carried out efficiently and in compliance with our high standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Port Operations Management: Act as the primary point of contact for all agents at the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT), ensuring smooth operations and seamless communication.
  • Collaboration with Port Operators: Coordinate with key stakeholders such as Intels, BRAWAL, NPA, OGFZA, and Customs to support the smooth flow of shipping activities.
  • Yard and Cargo Management: Work with the Head of Yards to secure stacking spaces for COMPANY cargoes ahead of vessel arrival.
  • Delivery and Documentation: Ensure timely deliveries, manage waybills, and facilitate the transfer of cargo to the warehouse receiving section.
  • Cargo Inspection and Customs Compliance: Assist in the identification and delineation of cargoes awaiting customs examination/inspection, ensuring the process is completed efficiently.
  • Marine Cargo Supervision: Supervise marine cargo surveyors and ensure activities are aligned with insurance requirements.
  • HSE Compliance: Adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Activity Reporting: Prepare and submit weekly and monthly activity reports for Onne FLT port operations.
  • Material Shipping Management: Serve as the shipping representative for OML58 and OFON PHASE II materials at Onne, ensuring compliance with shipping and customs processes.
  • Customs Documentation and Clearance: Coordinate with customs clearing agents to ensure the timely clearance and delivery of materials, ensuring all documentation is in order.
  • Container and Transit Management: Assist in managing an efficient container tracking system to minimize demurrage and ensure timely delivery.
  • Pre-cargo Discharge Meetings: Participate in meetings with port operators and shippers’ agents to plan for the discharge of cargo.
  • Equipment and Job-sheets Management: Ensure proper registration of equipment deployed for operations by port operators and sign-off on related job-sheets.

Desired Profile

  • Educational Qualifications: A graduate degree in Management, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in shipping and port operations.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SAP, MS Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Additional Qualifications: HND/PGD qualifications are preferred.
