As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a dynamic and skilled individual to join our team in the role of Portfolio Manager.

Location: Delta, Nigeria

About the Role

The Portfolio Manager will play a critical role in managing and expanding Moniepoint's loan portfolio while leading a team of Field Credit Officers (FCOs) in the assigned state. This role requires an individual who can effectively set performance targets, manage credit risk, and drive the growth of both business and loan products. In addition to overseeing the loan portfolio, the Portfolio Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Products, Risk, and Operations, to ensure seamless credit management and adherence to company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Team Leadership and Management

    • Supervise and mentor Field Credit Officers (FCOs), providing guidance to ensure they meet performance objectives.
    • Set clear goals and performance expectations for the team, ensuring alignment with Moniepoint’s overall strategic objectives.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and identify areas for development to foster a culture of continuous professional growth.
  2. Portfolio Oversight and Growth

    • Develop strategies to grow and optimize the loan portfolio within the assigned region.
    • Monitor portfolio performance, including loan disbursements, approvals, repayments, and overall financial health.
    • Identify trends, anticipate risks, and implement mitigation strategies to safeguard portfolio integrity.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement

    • Work with cross-functional teams (Products, Operations, Risk, etc.) to facilitate the efficient disbursement and servicing of loans.
    • Cultivate strong relationships with business clients and local stakeholders to increase the company’s market footprint.
    • Resolve escalated customer inquiries or issues promptly to maintain high customer satisfaction.
  4. Process Improvement

    • Identify inefficiencies in credit administration and recommend enhancements to streamline operations.
    • Keep abreast of market trends, industry best practices, and competitor activities to adapt strategies that improve operational effectiveness.
  5. Credit Risk Management

    • Ensure that all loan decisions comply with Moniepoint’s established credit policies and procedures.
    • Review and approve loan applications submitted by FCOs and provide final credit decisions when necessary.
    • Collaborate with the Regional Credit Manager and VP of Credit Portfolio Management to conduct risk assessments and refine credit evaluation frameworks.
  6. Compliance and Reporting

    • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and internal policies in all aspects of portfolio management.
    • Prepare and present detailed reports on portfolio performance, highlighting key metrics, trends, and recommendations to senior leadership.
    • Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation in accordance with compliance standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4-5 years of relevant experience in lending, credit, or portfolio management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance within the financial sector.
  • Proven experience in managing and growing loan portfolios in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a resident of the assigned state.
  • Demonstrable skills in credit risk analysis and financial assessment.
