Job Title: Principal Telecoms Engineer
Location: Lagos

About the Job

The top accountabilities include delivering quality end-to-end Telecoms/Data network solutions, including the design, review, and implementation of systems.

Responsibilities

  • Expertise in designing IT/Telecommunications systems such as LAN/WAN, CCTV, Intruder Detection System, Access Control, Public Address and General Alarms (PAGA) system, PABX/LLEIP telephony Voice services, microwave radio links, Structured Office Cabling, Inter- and Intra-site cabling (Copper and Fibre Optics), and TETRA communications system.
  • Supporting the Telecommunications Lead to evaluate and review IT/Telecoms deliverables from pre-DG3 to Operate phases of Capital projects, guiding contractors to comply with Shell design standards.
  • Providing interface for Telecommunications sub-contractor to other disciplines to ensure seamless provision of inputs and outputs.
  • Experience with Projects to Asset (P2A/OR&A) processes for integration into existing systems by relevant Telecommunications sub-contractors.
  • Day-to-day support for Construction site Telecommunications, engaging with sub-contractor personnel managing the sites for all hardware and non-Shell Telecommunications systems.
  • Supervising Telecommunications sub-contractor personnel in system installation, ensuring compliance with HSE requirements and Shell installation standards.
  • Deploying and testing standard IT/Telecommunications systems, including LAN/WAN (Cisco, Aruba), CCTV (Genetec, Bosch, Axis), Intruder Detection System (IDS, Optasense), Access Control, Public Address and General Alarms (PAGA), Voice services (Alcatel based - PABX, LLE, IP Telephony), microwave radio links (Aviat based), Structured Office Cabling, Inter- and Intra-site cabling (Copper and Fibre Optics), and TETRA (Motorola based).
  • Demonstrable Contractor management skills to engage with contractors and ensure compliance with contract Scope of Work.
  • Managing Oil and Gas IT HSE operations, processes, and requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in Telecommunication System requirements, specification, design, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover in a multidisciplinary environment, preferably within SCiN or any other IOC/LOC.
  • Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, ITU, BICSI, and TIA/EIA codes and standards.
