Job Title: Procurement Assistant (COR)

Location: Abuja, Nigeria

Job Type: Full-time

The U.S. Mission to Nigeria, comprising the Embassy in Abuja, FCT, and the Consulate General in Lagos, serves as a vital liaison to the Nigerian people. U.S. Consulate General Lagos is particularly pivotal in representing the Mission's interests in the southern region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the Contracting and Procurement Office.
  • Manage Procurement & Invoice trackers and process invoices efficiently.
  • Act as the Sectional Occasional Cash Holder, overseeing local petty cash purchases.
  • Offer administrative assistance to the Procurement Section, including document preparation and invoice processing.
  • Conduct research on problematic procurements and resolve payment issues with vendors.
  • Perform secretarial duties for the Procurement Supervisor and Contracting Officer.
  • Ensure efficient file management and retrieval system for all purchase requests.
  • Oversee the department’s expendable office supply needs and plan accordingly to meet deadlines.
  • May be required to work weekends and holidays as needed.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business Studies, Public Administration, or Sociology.

Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain and hold a Public Trust Security Clearance.
  • Background investigation and pre-employment medical exam may be required.
  • Must be able to start working within six weeks upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in clerical/administrative work in the purchasing field.

Skills And Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to extract complex data and generate user-friendly reports/spreadsheets.
  • Proactive self-starter with a focus on improving program efficiency and customer communication.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel Spreadsheets & Power Point is required.
  • Typing speed of 40WPM with accuracy is necessary.
