Lagos Water Corporation (LWC), a Lagos State Government agency, is the primary provider of potable and safe water to over 18 million residents of Lagos State, Nigeria. Established in 1910 with the construction of the Iju Waterworks, the Corporation has significantly expanded its operations to meet the growing demand for clean water. Currently, LWC’s total installed water production capacity is 210 million gallons per day (MGD), which is below the required demand. To bridge this gap, LWC has developed the Lagos Water Supply Master Plan, targeting an increase in production capacity to 745 MGD.

To strengthen operations and enhance service delivery, LWC is seeking qualified candidates for the following position:

Job Summary

Lagos Water Corporation is looking for a highly organized and results-driven Project Engineer to oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of critical water infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely completion, budget adherence, and quality standards in all projects. This role is essential to achieving LWC’s mission of enhancing water supply services across Lagos State.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Coordination: Develop project plans, schedules, and strategies for water infrastructure projects.

  • Project Execution & Monitoring: Ensure projects meet deadlines and are executed within budget.

  • Budget & Resource Management: Monitor project costs and resource allocation.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with government agencies, contractors, and project teams.

  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate project records and submit progress reports.

  • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Team Leadership & Development: Guide project teams to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management, preferably in water infrastructure or utility projects.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Knowledge of water sector dynamics and regulatory requirements is an added advantage.

  • Professional certification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.

  • Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project and Primavera.
