Role Overview
As a Project Manager at TotalEnergies, you will be responsible for overseeing the execution of multiple projects, from EPC contract negotiation through to final handover. Your role will involve ensuring adherence to safety, quality, budget, planning, and documentation management. You will also support project development and technical sales efforts, maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
HSE Responsibilities:
- Ensure strict adherence to Group QHSSE policies, including MAESTRO, and comply with affiliate-specific QHSSE policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Participate in and deliver training programs on QHSSE practices.
- Report near misses, incidents, hazards, and injuries within the required time frame.
- Engage in incident investigations and analyses.
- Exercise full authority to halt operations for safety reasons.
Project Development Support:
- Analyze and evaluate EPCs and contractors' offers with respect to quality, HSE, and cost.
- Prepare and issue RFPs to contractors for awarded projects.
- Coordinate with the design team to secure local approvals and regulatory compliance.
- Liaise with HQ technical services for technical specifications and continuous improvements.
- Shortlist, negotiate with contractors, and manage project engineering tools and templates.
Project Management:
- Oversee multiple projects from EPC contract negotiation to handover, focusing on safety, security, quality, budget, planning, and documentation.
- Support permitting and regulatory compliance processes.
- Ensure projects are commissioned and tested as per contractual requirements and industry standards.
- Manage project handovers to O&M Teams and clients, ensuring all contractual objectives are met.
- Maintain documentation in line with company standards.
- Engage in commercial negotiations and manage relationships to ensure sustainable procurement of equipment and contractors.
- Support and monitor suppliers, EPCs, and engineering consultants, ensuring adherence to HSE, quality, and compliance guidelines.
- Ensure projects meet design specifications and material selection criteria.
- Conduct regular site visits and reports to ensure construction quality and safety.
- Coordinate construction activities with contractors and equipment suppliers.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships post-handover.
Technical Sales Support:
- Conduct feasibility studies, preliminary solar designs, CAPEX/OPEX estimations, and performance simulations for solar plants.
- Assess site characteristics and customer consumption demands during the prospection phase.
- Prepare internal CITS dossiers and investment committee presentations.
- Provide technical support for approximately 30 MW of awarded projects per year.
- Develop and present technical offers to potential clients, supporting the sales team in negotiations.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Electrical Engineering from a premier university; graduate degree and/or related professional qualifications are a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in solar projects, with a focus on rooftop, ground-mount, carport, and DG projects.
- Experience in maintaining functional specifications, commissioning checklists, and standard operating practices for rooftop solar projects.
- Familiarity with RSA context, including electrical norms, renewable energy regulations, and construction codes.
- Proficiency in project management practices and solar-specific software such as MS Project, AutoCAD, PVSyst, Meteonorm, SolarGIS, Helioscope, and Sketchup.
- Experience with low and medium voltage POC projects and project sizes up to 50 to 70 MWp.
- Knowledge of hybrid solutions with BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) is highly desirable.
