The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has issued a bold challenge to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, demanding that he provide concrete evidence to support his N50 million bribery allegation or remain silent.
APGA’s response follows Atiku’s claim that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is allegedly paying opposition parties N50 million each to sabotage Nigeria’s democracy.
APGA Condemns Atiku’s Allegations
Atiku made these accusations on Monday at a national conference on strengthening democracy in Nigeria, held in Abuja. However, APGA, in a statement on Thursday signed by its Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, dismissed the claims as baseless.
“Stop Spreading Unfounded Rumours” – APGA Fires Back
APGA criticized Atiku for allegedly attempting to stir political tension with unverified claims:
“APGA is compelled to respond to the baseless allegation made by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, claiming that the ruling APC is buying over opposition parties with N50 million.
“We condemn this assertion in the strongest terms, as it lacks proof and substance. It is unfortunate that Atiku has resorted to spreading unfounded rumours that only serve to heat up the polity and undermine Nigeria’s democratic process.”
APGA to Atiku: Name the Parties or Remain Silent
The party further challenged Atiku to provide specific names and evidence, stating that anything less amounts to political grandstanding:
“If Atiku truly wants to strengthen democracy, he must disclose the names of opposition parties allegedly receiving N50 million. It’s time for him to put up or shut up!
“We, therefore, challenge Atiku to mention names, provide evidence, and substantiate his claims. Anything short of this is mere political propaganda that Nigerians will not take seriously.”
With this statement, APGA has firmly rejected Atiku’s allegations and demanded transparency, reinforcing its stance on promoting truth in Nigeria’s political landscape.
