Main Purpose
As a Purchasing Officer, you will manage daily purchasing activities at our supply office (coordination or project level) according to MSF protocols and standards, ensuring the optimal operation of the mission/project.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct day-to-day purchasing activities, analyze market sources, and evaluate competitive pricing conditions among suppliers to ensure a steady supply of goods while adhering to MSF procurement procedures.
- Continuously assess the local market for the best value and negotiate prices to secure quality goods and commodities for MSF.
- Update supplier-item-price data regularly and inform the Supply (Activity) Supervisor/Logistics Supervisor of any modifications.
- Obtain quotations from suppliers as per MSF Purchasing policy and place orders with pre-selected suppliers.
- Request and verify invoices/receipts promptly, ensuring accurate documentation before approval.
- Manage administrative and accounting processes related to purchases, including completing purchase orders and checking delivery notes against orders.
- Assist in the reception control process alongside the storekeeper.
- Collaborate with users to understand their needs accurately.
Requirements
Education:
- Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or Commerce-related studies.
Experience:
- Essential: 2 years of experience in supply chain-related roles.
Languages:
- Essential: Proficiency in the mission language and local languages (Kanuri, Hausa).
Knowledge:
- Basic mathematics, intermediate Excel skills, and familiarity with ERP (Unified) systems.
